ISRO SDSC SHAR Recruitment 2026
97 Posts at Sriharikota – Eligibility, Exam Pattern, Salary & Apply Online
A permanent ISRO job without leaving Andhra Pradesh is not something you see every month. The ISRO SDSC SHAR Recruitment 2026 is exactly that: 97 regular posts at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota (Tirupati district), with a few seats at Rasayani in Maharashtra, Balasore in Odisha and 4 driver posts at ADRIN in Secunderabad. The posts start at 10th class (MTS, Fireman) and go up to first-class diploma and degree holders (Technical Assistant, Scientific Assistant). I read the full 43-page advertisement No. SDSC SHAR/RMT/03/2026 dated 19.10.2026 on the ISRO site. The window closes on 9 November 2026, so if you are eligible, do not sit on this one.
✓ Apply / focus if you are an ITI Fitter or Electronic Mechanic (29 seats together), a first-class Mechanical diploma holder, or a 10th-pass candidate aged 18-25 for MTS. Exam centres include Tirupati, Guntur, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.
✗ Skip if your diploma or degree is not first class (Technical/Scientific/Library Assistant and Nurse need first class), or you are above the age limit with no relaxation.
Why: central government Level 1 to Level 7 pay, a written-test-based selection with no interview for most posts, and most postings in our own state.

Age Limit and Relaxation
Age is counted as on 09.11.2026. Most posts allow 18 to 35 years. Fireman ‘A’ and MTS allow only 18 to 25 years. SC/ST candidates get 5 extra years and OBC candidates 3 years, but only against posts reserved for their category. Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, central government employees and meritorious sportspersons get relaxation as per central rules.
Application Fee and Refund
| Posts | Pay at time of applying | Refund if you write the test |
|---|---|---|
| Level 7 posts (TA, SA, Library Assistant, Nurse) | Rs 750 | Full Rs 750 for women, SC/ST, PwBD, ESM; Rs 500 for others |
| Level 1-3 posts (Technician, Draughtsman, Fireman, Drivers, MTS) | Rs 500 | Full Rs 500 for women, SC/ST, PwBD, ESM; Rs 400 for others |
So everyone pays first, and the money comes back only if you actually appear for the written test. Enter your bank details correctly in the form, because the refund goes there. Each post code needs a separate application and separate fee.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
| Posts | Written test | Next stage |
|---|---|---|
| TA, SA, Library Assistant, Technician, Draughtsman | 80 MCQs in 1.5 hours; +1 right, -0.33 wrong; minimum 32/80 (UR) or 24/80 (reserved) | Skill test, 100 marks, qualifying only (50 for UR, 40 for reserved) |
| Nurse ‘B’ | 80 MCQs in 120 minutes; +1 / -0.33 | Skill test, qualifying only |
| Fireman ‘A’ | 80 MCQs in 120 minutes; +1 / -0.33 | PET (two stages, go/no-go) and detailed medical |
| LVD / HVD ‘A’ | 100 MCQs in 120 minutes: Motor Vehicles Act 50, English 15, Arithmetic 15, GK 20; -0.25 wrong; 50% in Part A and 50% in B+C+D | Driving skill test, minimum 60% for all |
| MTS | 100 MCQs in 90 minutes: numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness, English; -0.25 wrong | No skill test; merit on written marks |
For every post, the final rank comes from written test marks only. The skill test and PET are pass/fail. Shortlisting for the skill test is about 5 candidates per seat (minimum 10), and for Fireman PET up to 50 per seat. MTS needs at least 50% (UR/EWS), 45% (OBC) or 40% (other reserved categories). Fireman applicants must upload a Preliminary Medical Examination certificate from a government doctor with the application itself.
Last Year vs This Year
Cut-off, Competition and Safe Score
SDSC SHAR does not publish applicant counts or cut-offs on the recruitment page, so any "competition ratio" you see online is a guess. What I can tell you from the notice: the minimum bar for technical posts is 32 out of 80 for UR, but with 17 Fitter and 12 Electronic Mechanic seats against a very large pool of ITI holders, the real merit line will be far higher. My planning target (not official): aim for 55+ out of 80 in the technician/assistant paper and 70+ out of 100 for MTS, while keeping wrong answers low.
Exam Centres and the AP / Telangana Angle
The written test is a computer-based test in 18 cities: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Dehradun, Guntur, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam (subject to enough candidates). Most posts are at Sriharikota itself, which is near Sullurpeta in Tirupati district. Physics Scientific Assistant may go to Balasore, and codes 10, 16, 17, 18 and 19 can go to Rasayani as well, as per your preference and merit. Driver code 30 is at ADRIN, Secunderabad. Remember that ISRO jobs carry all-India transfer liability.
Salary: Basic + DA From the Notice
| Posts | Pay level (basic range) | Approx. basic + DA per month |
|---|---|---|
| TA, SA, Library Assistant, Nurse | Level 7 (Rs 44,900 - 1,42,400) | Rs 71,840 |
| Technician ‘B’, Draughtsman ‘B’ | Level 3 (Rs 21,700 - 69,100) | Rs 34,720 |
| Fireman, LVD, HVD | Level 2 (Rs 19,900 - 63,200) | Rs 31,840 |
| MTS | Level 1 (Rs 18,000 - 56,900) | Rs 28,800 |
30-Day Preparation Plan
| Days | Technician / TA / Draughtsman | MTS / Drivers / Fireman |
|---|---|---|
| 1-10 | Trade theory of your ITI or diploma subjects (NCVT syllabus); one topic a day with notes | Arithmetic basics (percent, ratio, time-work), reasoning series and coding; drivers: Motor Vehicles Act basics |
| 11-20 | Workshop calculations, drawing basics, safety, measuring tools; 40 MCQs daily | General awareness (space missions, ISRO launches, current affairs), English grammar |
| 21-30 | Three full 80-question timed tests; revise mistakes | Three full timed tests; Fireman: running and fitness practice for PET |
Since ISRO is a space agency, revise recent ISRO launches and missions for the GK part. For technical posts, your diploma or NCVT textbooks are the best free source.
