Indian Bank Apprentice Recruitment 2026
1,500 Graduate Apprentice Seats – Stipend up to Rs 15,000 – AP 85, Telangana 46
Every year a lot of fresh graduates ask the same thing: how do I get a first step inside a bank without a big exam? An apprenticeship is the closest answer, and the Indian Bank Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is one of the larger ones this season. The bank has opened 1,500 training seats for FY 2026-27 under the Apprentices Act, 1961, with 85 in Andhra Pradesh and 46 in Telangana. It is a 12-month training, not a permanent job, so read that line twice before you apply. I went through the full 44-page advertisement uploaded on 4 November 2026 on the bank's website, and this is the practical version.
✓ Apply / focus if you are a graduate (any stream) who passed between April 2022 and 1 November 2026, you are aged 20-28, you read and write Telugu or Urdu (for AP/Telangana) and you want real branch experience and a stipend while you prepare for IBPS, SBI or RRB exams.
✗ Skip if you want a permanent bank job straight away, you already completed an apprenticeship, or you have one year or more of job experience after your degree.
Why: the bank itself says there is no right to employment after training. It is a strong CV line and a paid year of learning, but it is not a clerk appointment.

Disability seats (horizontal reservation) across India: 12 visual, 12 hearing, 13 orthopaedic and 11 intellectual. All figures are provisional, as the bank says. The full state list for the remaining states is in the bank's PDF.
Andhra Pradesh and Telangana: Districts and Exam Centres
The bank does not give a district-wise number. It lists the districts in which a state's seats may be filled, and you choose three preferred districts while applying. The merit list gives first preference to your home district, and you can add two neighbouring districts.
| State | Seats | Districts covered | Test centres |
|---|---|---|---|
| Andhra Pradesh | 85 | All 26 districts, from Srikakulam and Visakhapatnam down to Tirupati, Chittoor, Nellore and Kurnool | Vijayawada/Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool, Vizianagaram |
| Telangana | 46 | 30 districts including Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Khammam and Nalgonda | Hyderabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Warangal |
One small detail Telangana readers will notice: the bank's list has Mahabubabad and Mahbubnagar as separate entries, and it does not list Vikarabad, Wanaparthy or Nagarkurnool. If your home district is missing, choose the nearest listed one.
Eligibility in Simple Words
- Citizenship: Indian citizens can apply. People from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan refugees (before 1 Jan 1962) and persons of Indian origin from listed countries need a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.
- Degree: any graduation, passed between 1 April 2022 and 1 November 2026, with the final result declared on or before 1 November 2026. Final-year students waiting for results cannot apply.
- Age: born between 2 November 1998 and 1 November 2006. SC/ST get 5 years extra, OBC (non-creamy layer) 3 years, PwBD 10 years, and 1984 riot-affected candidates 5 years. Widows and divorced or separated women who have not remarried can go up to 35 (General/EWS), 38 (OBC) and 40 (SC/ST).
- NATS profile: compulsory for graduates of April 2022 onward. Register on the NATS 2.0 portal, note your Enrolment ID and complete the profile 100 percent.
- Who is out: anyone who has already done an apprenticeship, and anyone with one year or more of work experience after the degree. The bank also says it does not take ex-servicemen under this scheme.
Stipend: What You Actually Get Per Month
| Branch type | Bank pays | Government (DBT) pays | Total per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Metro / urban | Rs 8,850 | Rs 6,150 | Rs 15,000 |
| Rural / semi-urban | Rs 6,150 | Rs 6,150 | Rs 12,300 |
No other allowances are paid. You get one casual leave for each completed month, but not more than four at a stretch, and you need more than 338 paid days of training to qualify for the Certificate of Proficiency. There is no overtime, no EPF or ESI, and you cannot join a union during the year. The one-year contract is issued digitally on NATS, and if you walk out early you pay a month's stipend as a termination cost.
Rough monthly picture (my estimate): in a metro posting, Rs 15,000 can feel tight after rent, but a Telugu graduate placed in a home district can save a good part of it. The value is the experience, not the cash.
Application Fee
| Category | Fee |
|---|---|
| General, OBC, EWS | Rs 800 plus GST |
| SC, ST, PwBD | Rs 175 plus GST |
Payment is online by card or net banking, bank charges are yours, and the fee is not refunded or carried to any other exam. If you do not get an e-receipt, treat the payment as failed and log in again with your provisional registration number.
Exam Pattern and Selection
| Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| Reasoning Aptitude | 15 | 15 |
| Computer Knowledge | 10 | 10 |
| English Language | 25 | 25 |
| Quantitative Aptitude | 25 | 25 |
| General Awareness (banking focus) | 25 | 25 |
| Total | 100 | 100 in 60 minutes |
The paper is objective and shares a single 60-minute clock across all sections, with no sectional cut-off. The advertisement sets a minimum aggregate for qualifying, with 5 percent relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD, but I could not find the exact percentage in it, and it does not state any negative marking either. Treat that as "not announced" until the call letter. Scores are normalised using the equi-percentile method, ties go to the older candidate, and a state-wise, category-wise merit list plus a waiting list is prepared.
Local Language Test and Exam Languages
After the online test you must pass a Local Language Proficiency Test in the language of the state you applied to. For Andhra Pradesh and Telangana it is Telugu or Urdu, and you pick one while applying. You are exempt if your 8th, 10th or 12th mark sheet shows you studied that language as a subject, so most Telugu-medium or Telugu-subject students will not face it. The test is at your own expense. The online test itself is held in major regional languages, except the English section, which is English only.
Exam Date
No exam date is published in the advertisement. The call letter will come by email and through the apprenticeship and BFSI SSC portals mentioned in the notice, so keep your mobile number and email active. Centre change requests are not entertained.
Last Year vs This Year
Competition and a Safe Score
The bank has not published applicant numbers or cut-offs, so no ratio is given here. Think about it logically though: Andhra Pradesh has 85 seats for 26 districts, and Telangana 46 for 30 districts, so the pool per district is tiny and a home-district preference matters. My own target (not official): aim for 70 or more out of 100, with at least 20 in English and 20 in quant, since those 50 marks are the most controllable.
30-Day Preparation Plan
| Week | Focus | Daily time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Quant basics: percentages, ratio, average, simple interest, number series; English grammar rules | 2 hours |
| 2 | Reasoning: syllogism, seating, coding-decoding, inequality; reading comprehension and cloze test | 2 hours |
| 3 | Computer basics (MS Office, shortcuts, internet, networking terms); banking awareness and RBI basics; current affairs of 6 months | 2 hours |
| 4 | Full 60-minute mocks, 100 questions; review wrong answers; revise Telugu/Urdu script if needed | 2.5 hours |
Free material from YouTube and previous IBPS Clerk prelims papers is enough for this level. Do two mocks a week from week 2 so the 60-minute clock does not surprise you.
Photo, Signature and Document Rules
| Upload | Size in pixels | File size | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photograph | 200 x 230 | 20 to 50 KB | Colour, plain light background, no cap or dark glasses |
| Signature | 140 x 60 | 10 to 20 KB | Black ink on white paper, not in capital letters |
| Left thumb impression | 240 x 240 at 200 DPI | 20 to 50 KB | Black or blue ink on white paper, jpg |
| Handwritten declaration | 800 x 400 at 200 DPI | 50 to 100 KB | In English, not capital letters, black ink, jpg |
If your left thumb is missing, use the right thumb, and if both are missing, use a left-hand finger starting from the forefinger. Scan at 200 DPI or more, and make sure each file goes into its own box. The declaration, in your own handwriting, says that the details you filled are correct and that you will show supporting documents when asked.
